Furniture Repair Bank has expanded its mission in 2026 by offering furniture restoration services to the public. Supporters and community members can now hire our team to repair, refinish, or restore their cherished pieces, all while knowing that every dollar directly supports families in need. This new service meets a long‑standing community request and creates a sustainable way to fund our programs, all while keeping more furniture out of landfills and in homes where it’s needed most

- We work on upholstered seating and solid wood furniture: dressers, tables, chairs, lounge chairs, sofas, loveseats, ottomans, etc.
- We do not restore antiques requiring specialized historical conservation or items that are structurally unsafe.
- Upholstery replacement (fabric, foam, webbing, springs)
- Structural repairs (wobbly legs, broken joints, loose frames)
- Surface refinishing (sanding, staining)
- We do not carry a deep inventory of fabrics in-house. We advise our clients on how much fabric is required for the project, and then they provide their own material.
- We offer guidance on fabric type, durability, stain resistance, and color selection.
- We stock a few color options of stains, but if a specific color is requested, we ask that the client provide the product.
- Pricing depends on the size, condition, materials, and complexity of the project.
- We provide a clear estimate before any work begins.
- Additional costs may apply if any unforeseen issues arise, i.e. internal damage not initially visible at first inspection.
- Most restoration or reupholstery projects take 2–6 weeks, depending on the scope and our current queue.
- Rush projects may be possible for an additional fee.
- Yes—customers can drop off items at our Sodo, Seattle workshop during designated intake hours.
- Pickup and delivery may be available for an additional fee.
- FRB’s restoration team includes skilled staff and volunteer craftspeople experienced in repair, woodworking, and upholstery.
- All work is supervised by our professional restoration leads.
- Revenue from personal restoration projects helps fund FRB’s mission of providing free furniture to community members in need, helping to grow our impacts and provide comfort to those who need it most.
- Your project directly supports reuse, waste reduction, and housing stability in King County.
- We assess each piece individually.
- If an item isn’t safe or feasible to restore, we’ll explain why and offer alternatives.
- Yes—customers can send photos for an initial assessment.
- We’ll let you know what repairs are realistic, what the finished piece could look like, and what the estimated cost may be.
- Yes—cleaning is included in most restoration and upholstery projects.
- Deep cleaning or odor removal may incur additional fees.
- Submit a project inquiry form and include all relevant details.
- We’ll follow up with an estimate, timeline, and next steps.
- No problem! Estimates are free and non‑binding, and you’re welcome to decide later.
- Work begins only after you approve the final scope and price.
