Looking Ahead: Big Plans for 2026

As we turn the page to a new year, we’re excited to share what’s next for Furniture Repair Bank. 2025 was a year of incredible growth and impact, and 2026 will be all about expanding opportunities, deepening community engagement, and building sustainability into everything we do.

Furniture Sales to Support Our Mission

If you’ve spent any time in our shop, you probably know that we always have an ample supply of furniture to serve our clients’ needs. Sometimes we receive items that don’t fit our clients’ needs, or we simply have too many of certain items (I’m looking at you, lounge chairs).

This year, we are excited to launch furniture sales of some of these refinished pieces, with 100% of proceeds going back into the organization to grow our programs and increase our impact. This is a win-win: reducing waste, supporting our growth, and funding more restorations for families in need.

Will you be shopping for new (to you) furniture in 2026? Tell us what’s on your shopping list! Fill out an inquiry form here if you are shopping for anything specific to help us determine which types of pieces we should focus on.

Introducing Restoration Classes

We’re thrilled to announce that our first pilot program of restoration classes will debut this year, starting with simple dining chair upholstery. These classes will empower community members to learn hands-on skills and bring new life to their own furniture. We aim to launch our first class in late spring. Stay tuned to our newsletter and social channels for announcements of dates and registration, or sign up here to be notified directly!

Need an Item Restored? We’ve Got You!

One of the questions we hear most often is, “Do you take on commissioned repairs?” In 2026, the answer will finally be yes. We’re excited to begin offering restoration services to the public, giving community members a way to bring cherished pieces back to life while supporting our mission.

Whether you have a family heirloom that needs careful repair or a thrifted gem waiting for a second chance, our team and skilled volunteers will now be able to help. This new service not only meets a long‑standing community request, it also creates a sustainable revenue stream that directly fuels our programs for families in need.

This program will be soft-launched in February 2026, so if you already have a piece in mind that you need repaired or refinished, let us know here!

Transforming the Blank Space into The Repair Place

Now that we are done celebrating the success of our first fundraising campaign, it’s time to get to work! We are starting to put the funds from our “Blank Space to The Repair Place” initiative to use, which includes:

  • Building out a community volunteer lounge

  • Tool and safety upgrades

  • Improved lighting, electrical, and air systems

  • Layout improvements with better workflow

Plans are already in motion to implement these upgrades to make our space more efficient, welcoming, and safe for everyone who walks through our doors.

Join Us in Building What’s Possible

Everything we’re planning for 2026 is powered by people like you: neighbors who believe in repair, community, and second chances. If you’re inspired by our vision, there are meaningful ways to help us grow:

  • Volunteer: Share your time, your skills, or simply your willingness to learn. Every pair of hands helps a family rebuild stability and comfort.

  • Group Events: Bring your work team or club for a dedicated volunteer event where you’ll build camaraderie and skills simultaneously!

  • Donate: Your financial support fuels our programs, expands our capacity, and ensures that more families receive the furniture they need to thrive.

Together, we can make 2026 a year of even greater impact, connection, and repair. Let’s build it, piece by piece, and side by side.

See you at Furniture Repair Bank!
