Make an Impact This Summer with the Repair Bank
It’s been a great year so far at the Repair Bank, and our team has loved seeing the workshop buzzing with activity. We’ve welcomed so many new faces: neighbors discovering us for the first time, volunteers who joined once and are now regulars, and longtime stalwarts who continue to anchor our community with their steady presence. This mix of fresh energy and dedication has made the past few months feel especially vibrant, and we’re excited to carry that momentum into summer!
Creating The Repair Place
Upgrades and improvements continue as we transform the warehouse into a brighter, more functional community space. Volunteers can sign up for shifts to help with projects such as wall and floor painting, exterior clean-up (have you SEEN the 3-foot-tall weeds in the parking spots?), bathroom décor refresh, and more.
These small but meaningful upgrades will make our space more welcoming for volunteers and partners. If you are a home improvement DIYer, these are the shifts for you!
If you’re interested in supporting the Repair Bank with more than furniture restoration, sign up today under Workshop Improvements in the volunteer portal!
Help Us Spread the Word!
Summer is a great time for community engagement, and we are inviting volunteers to join us in spreading the word at the Bellevue Art Fair in July, the Seattle Design Festival in August, and more. These events help us introduce thousands of neighbors to our mission of repair, reuse, and furnishing homes with dignity.
Outreach volunteers will receive a short training session in advance, along with talking points, background materials, and on-site support so you feel confident representing FRB.
Interested in joining the outreach team? Submit the interest form linked here, and we will keep you up to date on training and opportunities!
Stopping Waste Before it Starts
As always, our collection events continue to be one of the most direct ways to keep good furniture out of the waste stream and into the homes that need it. For those interested in learning more about our processes, it is a great opportunity to learn how we assess incoming items to determine what is worth saving (and the chance to wear a fashionable high-visibility vest!). Join us for one of three monthly collections at the Seattle Transfer Stations.
This summer, we have two additional collection events taking place in Renton on June 6th and Kirkland on August 8th. If you live in one of those cities, it’s a perfect opportunity to support the Repair Bank without the drive downtown!
Visit the volunteer portal to sign up for a shift today and help save quality pieces from rotting away in the landfill.
Join Our Growing Volunteer Ranks
Our volunteer ranks have continued to grow as more people learn about our organization and join us, eager to learn new skills, reduce waste, and support their community.
Open Repair Days continue to be offered every Tuesday and Thursday, with shifts available at 10 am and 1:30 pm. More than a few regulars join us for both shifts and enjoy lunch breaks together in the volunteer lounge. Updates are still in progress in this area, including soon to be installed lockers for personal belongings, and a full refrigerator for anyone who wants to pack a lunch!
Our once-a-month Saturday shifts and Wednesday evening shifts continue to be popular, so be sure to sign up well in advance for those.
