Impacts - Winter 2025
After a much-deserved holiday break and a fresh workshop reset, we dove headfirst into 2025 with hammers swinging and energy soaring!
Repair Events & Volunteer Momentum Keep Growing!
We hit the ground running in Q1 with 44 repair events, including 20 group and corporate volunteer teams!
Our new bed storage system holds more than 15 beds!
Longtime partners who brought us new teams this winter were REI, Amazon, Salesforce (4 groups!), Starbucks, Gay for Good, and SHKS Architects, returning with fresh faces and big impact—SHKS even built us a brand-new bed storage system (a game-changer in our crowded space)!
We also welcomed some amazing first-time corporate teams: shoutout to J.P. Morgan Chase, Trinity Consultants, Kitsap County Solid Waste Division, Lululemon, and the Sheraton Grand. You’re now part of this crew!
Other awesome organizations that rolled up their sleeves included the Rotary Club of Edmonds, the Washington chapter of the National Association of Professional Organizers, The Northwest School, and two MeetUp groups.
Meanwhile, our individual volunteer community is booming! Our return to the workshop on MLK Day of Service brought over 30 volunteers through our doors. Every week, new faces pop into the workshop, excited to learn, fix, and give back. Many find us through coworkers, friends, or family who can’t stop raving about their experience—so thank you for spreading the word!
Whether you're volunteering for a couple of hours or a few days each month, we’re incredibly grateful for your time, heart, and hard work. You make this all possible, and we couldn’t do it without you.
Planning a volunteer day with your work team or group? Awesome! Group events are already filling up through summer, so lock in your date now with our request form.
Let’s keep the momentum going—2025 is just getting started!
New Year, New Records: 2025 is Off to a Powerful Start!
After wrapping up 2024 with our biggest quarter yet, we didn’t slow down—in fact, we leveled up! In Q1 of 2025, we restored and delivered a record-breaking 433 furniture items to individuals and families in need. That’s our highest number ever, and we’re just getting started!
Through partnerships with 17 incredible agencies, we were able to serve 129 people from 52 households—each one now equipped with the comfort and dignity that a furnished home brings. A warm welcome to new partners Treehouse for Kids, Bellwether Housing, the Denise Louie Education Center, and the Northwest Immigrant Rights Project—we’re so glad to have you on board!
Though our workshop is in Seattle, our reach stretches across the greater Puget Sound region. Thanks to our amazing volunteers—especially the ones who don’t mind a little lifting and the occasional staircase!—furniture made its way to homes in Seattle, Kent, Des Moines, Tukwila, Lynnwood, Shoreline, Auburn, Renton, Kirkland, and Bellevue.
A huge shoutout to the agency partners who help with pickups and deliveries. When you go the extra mile (literally!), it allows us to serve even more Washingtonians transitioning into safe, stable housing.
Turning Trash into Treasure at the Transfer Stations!
We kept the momentum rolling this quarter with eight collection events at Seattle’s North and South Transfer Stations, and the response was incredible! So many folks were relieved and excited to learn we were there to rescue their gently used furniture from the landfill. Many had already tried to rehome their pieces and were bringing them to the dump as a last resort, until we swooped in!
Even people who weren’t dropping off furniture stopped to ask about our work, proving that the word is spreading far and wide. 🙌
Want to join the fun at a Transfer Station? We’d love your help! And don’t worry—heavy lifting is not always required. One of the most important jobs is simply chatting with customers as they drive up to see if they’ve got furniture we can save. It’s a low-key, feel-good way to make a big difference.
👉 Check out our upcoming collection events on the public calendar, and sign up by emailing volunteer@repairbank.org.
Let’s keep saving furniture and the planet—one Transfer Station at a time!
