Impacts - Winter 2024

This winter we hosted many group repair events, significantly increased our individual volunteer numbers, and of course, saved many pounds of furniture from the landfill. Our efforts are not going unrecognized based on the encouragement and feedback we receive from our supporters, partners, and beneficiaries. Thank you to everyone who has contributed their time, effort, and of course FURNITURE to our cause!

  • We hosted 34 repair events, including twelve corporate and group repair teams from companies including Microsoft, Red Bison, Qualtrics XM, Seattle Department of Transportation, and our regular volunteer days with Starbucks partners. Organizations that joined us for repair days included the U-District Rotary Club, Americorps (who were prepared with their own coveralls!), the Shoreline Royals 18U Baseball team, and even a team of graduate students from Switzerland!

We continued our partnerships with the Congolese Integration Network and Sacred Heart Shelter, providing their clients with items for their new homes. We also made connections with new agencies and organizations to connect our services to local residents in need including The Salvation Army, The Seattle Recovery Residence, St. Vincent de Paul, and Lutheran Community Services NW.

  • We donated 133 furniture items to 54 people from 16 families in Seattle and surrounding communities, with many more items are ready for deliveries in April.

  • These donations resulted in diverting 11,030 pounds of furniture waste from landfills, and avoiding 12,577 pounds of CO2 emissions.
