2026 Q3 Impacts: Furnishing Homes & Spreading the Word!

After a toasty summer in the workshop, the FRB staff and volunteers are pleased with the return of cooler weather. With summer travel, group events were a bit lighter, but the dedicated volunteers who joined us for open Repair Days kept the shop buzzing with activity and restored furniture!

The workshop upgrades from last year’s fundraising campaign have been completed, including the debut of a new mural in our community volunteer lounge. Aside from the hiccup of our truck being stolen in July (we’ll miss you, Frida!), it was a successful and productive summer!

Here’s what the support of the FRB community made possible:

Furniture Delivered & Families Supported

  • Pieces of furniture delivered: 437

  • Households served: 37

  • Individuals supported: 95+

Each household we supported now has the comfort that furniture provides and makes their new place a livable home. Community members supported this spring included:

  • A senior citizen in Des Moines who was recently living in a shelter received living room, dining room, and bedroom furniture after securing housing for herself and her daughter thanks to our partners at Healthpoint CHC.

  • A local veteran who overcame addiction and recently moved into a place of his own after living in transitional housing for over two years. Thanks to the partnership of Compass Housing Alliance, we provided him with a full set of furniture to set him up for continued success.

  • FRB is supporting our partners at the Congolese Integration Network by providing furniture for their two new shelters in Bellevue. These two 3-bedroom townhouses will provide temporary housing for the women and children refugees and asylum seekers they support as they rebuild their lives.

Volunteer Support in More Than Just Restoration

Our volunteers put in tons of time and heart this summer to restore furniture for households where it’s most needed. In addition, a handful of outgoing volunteers also helped to spread the word about FRB at local events! We are so appreciative of their support in telling our story to hundreds of attendees at the Bellevue Arts Fair in July and the Seattle Design Festival (SDF) in August! Farewell to Frida

If you follow FRB on social media, then you’re likely aware that our box truck, affectionately named Frida, was stolen from behind our building at the end of July. What everyone is not aware of are the ensuing adventures of failed attempts to track her down (spoiler alert: we didn’t), a news feature highlighting our misfortune (thanks King 5!), and the eventual purchase of a replacement (hello Frida, Jr.!).

Thank You for Another Great Summer!

Every refinished table, every sofa delivered, every new person who learned about FRB — your hands, your time, and your generosity made it possible. Thank you for showing up, sharing our mission, donating materials and dollars, and fueling the momentum of repair.

We’re excited to bring you even more stories, more creativity, and more community impact as we continue in Q4.

See you at the workshop!
