June, August 2023 impacts

These were our first few months settling in, finding the flow, set up, and best ways to utilize the space. We are grateful for everyone who came to our repair events, brainstorming sessions, and advised over the phone or virtually.

In June and August we had:

  • 17 repair events, including  two corporate repair events with Atomo Coffee and Starbucks

  • 62 people volunteered (6 of them multiple times) and collectively donated 210 hours of their time

  • 102 items were provided to refugees and low-income families that saved 6,865 lb of furniture waste and contributed to saving 3,829 kgCO2e

The first pick up was to provide furniture for two families from the Afghan Community served by Global Perinatal Services. Here are some of the items we provided to them:

We also helped our neighbor Ahmed who works for Diamond parking right in front of our warehouse. His uncle recently immigrated to Washington and needed lamps and mattresses.

And we helped an Afghan mother, Taman, who is expecting her second child. Together with her husband she has a 3-year old daughter and one on the way. Her husband just started a new job, but they are still low-income and needed support.

And, last week we delivered to two families who escaped war and danger to their lives. Both families of 6, who now live in Federal Way and Kent, are served by our long standing partners Lutheran Community Services NW.
